Direct and manage the diverse human, technological and financial resources of Student and Academic Support Services (SASS) which consists of 46 permanent and 60 student staff. Coordinate the design, implementation, and assessment of programs in support of student learning emphasizing academic support, student development and retention of students in the institution. Provide visionary and collaborative leadership to units serving students who are diverse in age, race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, and mental and physical challenges.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree required, Ph.D. preferred; five years of progressive responsibility within a college or university, including work at the director, assistant dean, or associate dean level; five years' supervising full-time professional and support staff; and four years of experience in student affairs, working in support of students, including traditionally under-represented student populations.
PROGRAM COORDINATOR (Disability Resource Center)
Disability Resource Center is seeking a professional to provide services and programs for undergraduate and graduate students with visual, learning, and psychological disabilities. You will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting documentation, developing accommodation recommendations, and facilitating accommodation plans by working in collaboration with faculty. You will also act as liaison with various campus offices in providing services to students with disabilities. This position requires a Master's degree with expertise in learning disabilities, special education, rehabilitation counseling, or related field and a minimum of three years experience in higher education disability services. Knowledge of the issues surrounding blindness/visual impairments in college students is necessary. Thorough knowledge of federal laws pertaining to disabled students including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act is essential. A working knowledge of adaptive computer technology and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills are required.
Disability Services: Coordinator. The Disability Services Coordinator provides information to assist students with disabilities in their transition and adjustment to the university, accepts disability documentation and determines appropriate classroom accommodations, and coordinates resources to ensure the retention and academic success of students with disabilities. Assignments include assistance with retention efforts, orientation programs, and advising and instruction with students. Qualifications: Master's degree in special education, disability services, or a related field, and university level experience in disability service provision; or a Bachelor's degree and extensive training and experience working with individuals with disabilities in a higher education setting. Master's level preparation is preferred.
DIRECTOR OF DISABLED STUDENT SERVICES
Responsibilities: Under supervision of the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs, the Director coordinates support services for 250+ students with disabilities: academic support, accommodation determination, van service, mentor program, counseling and advisement. Supervises college and state allocations; develops and evaluates program services. Serves as resource for campus on disability information and training for serving individuals with disabilities. Serves as liaison with state and community agencies, campus groups, faculty, staff and administrators.
Qualifications: Master's degree and three years experience in special education or related field. Previous experience in developing and implementing educational programs, services and leadership programs for persons with disabilities. Knowledge of state/federal and state statutes and regulations as applicable to accommodation provision in a university setting. Knowledge of disabilities and appropriate postsecondary accommodations. Ability to plan, organize and supervise others; hire and train student employees, Excellent interpersonal communication and conflict-management skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively. Primary Responsibilities: Assist the Director of Services for Students with Disabilities in providing direct services to student; train and supervise tutors and academic coaches; assist in career development services; and coordinate social and academic services to foster success in transition to college. Maintain accurate records of service and implement evaluations.
Qualifications: Master's degree in education, learning disabilities, counseling or related field. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 4 years experience in academic support including services for students with disabilities.
