DESCRIPTION: The Academic Technology Specialist for the Disability Resource Center will help Stanford University integrate assistive technology into the areas of instruction, research, and employment for persons with disabilities, and provide campus-wide coordination and support for access to computers and on-line information resource. He or she will develop and maintain a computer lab with adaptive hardware and software; assist the Director with technology-related programmatic development; provide training in adaptive computer technologies; test and develop new technology and services; create and maintain web site with information about Stanford's assistive computing resources; participate as part of the team of Academic Technology Specialists in Meyer Library. QUALIFICATIONS: At C06 level, BA or BS plus min. 2 years experience with assistive technologies. At C07, advanced degree plus min. 5 years experience with assistive technologies. Knowledge of adaptive computer hardware and software, voice input, OCR, and Braille. Experience consulting with individuals with sensory, learning, or physical disabilities. Excellent communications, time, and project management skills. Experience with Mac, PC, and Unix systems and software.
